I started Advanced Insurance Management®
back in 1987, after working for years as an insurance producer
and consultant. More than twenty years later, I'm pleased to be able
to say that I'm busier than ever, helping employers lower their
costs for Workers' Compensation insurance by checking the
technical factors insurance companies use to compute premiums.
I've worked in the insurance business since 1976. I've worked
for insurance companies, been part of the independent agency
system, and worked for several insurance consulting companies
before starting my own consulting practice. Along the way
I've written two books on the subject of Workers'
Compensation cost and coverage, been accepted as an expert
in that field by state and federal courts, and worked
with companies both large and small regarding their Workers'
Compensation costs.
I've also earned the professional designations of
Chartered Property Casualty
Underwriter, and Associate in
Premium Auditing. I've provided consulting services to
such well-known companies as Caterpillar, Federal
Mogul, The San Francisco 49ers and Bridgestone/Firestone Tire, as well as to
many smaller companies across the United States. I even
got to consult a little with the National Institute of
Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and with Lloyds of London
(or at least with Lloyd's American lawyers.) You can take
a look at my full CV online as well.
I currently serve as a member of the Workers Compensation
Committee of the Employment Law Council for the Illinois
Chamber of Commerce. I've also served on a
task force organized by the Illinois Department of Insurance to
implement new Workers’ Compensation insurance regulations. I've
testified before the Illinois legislature on
issues of Workers' Compensation insurance. And I've
presented lectures and seminars before a number of insurance and
business groups, including The Workers Compensation Claims
Association, The Greater Peoria Contractors & Suppliers
Association, The Central Illinois Employers Association, The
Illinois Manufacturers Association, The Missouri Contractors
Association, The Midwest Society of Professional Consultants,
The Illinois 1752 Club (an organization of insurance marketing
professionals), The Chicago Roofing Contractors Association, the
International Recreational Water Professionals, Caterpillar, and
at the Construction Risk Conference sponsored by the
International Risk Management Institute.
I've also developed seminars and educational materials approved
for Continuing Education credit for insurance producers by the
Illinois Department of Insurance and other state insurance
regulators. And I've assisted clients in successful
appeals of NCCI decisions before various Workers’ Compensation
Appeals Boards and in legal hearings before the Illinois
Department of Insurance and the Nebraska Department of
Insurance.
I'm currently a member of the Society of Chartered Property
Casualty Underwriters, and a member of the National
Society of Insurance Premium Auditors, as well as being a
member of the National Association for Business Economics.
My latest book is
The Ultimate Guide to Workers'
Compensation Insurance, and I'm also the author of the
1995 book CompControl, The Secrets of Reducing Workers'
Compensation Costs, although that book is a bit hard to find
nowadays.
In the course of my consulting
work I estimate I've saved clients over $15,000,000 in Workers'
Compensation insurance charges. The Advanced Insurance
Management®
service is more than just me nowadays, but I'm still personally
involved in one way or another with every case we handle. And
I've personally trained our other consultants and supervise
their work.
