Helping Employers Solve The Puzzle of High Workers Comp Costs

All About AIM

How We Began

I started Advanced Insurance Management back in 1987, after having worked as an insurance agent and consultant since 1976. My name is Ed Priz, and when I started the company, it was just me, helping employers reduce the cost of Workers Compensation insurance by correcting mistakes by insurance companies and the rating bureau (such as NCCI). I corrected mistakes in classification codes, experience modification factors, and payroll audits.

A Family Business: Two Generations of Expertise Serving You

All these years later, Advanced Insurance Management LLC still isn't some huge company--but it's also a little bit more than just me nowadays. My son, Scott Priz, joined me here in 2003 after having graduated from the University of Chicago.

And, while we originally helped mainly employers in our home state of Illinois, these days we help employers all over the U.S. We sometimes get hired by insurance companies, too, and sometimes by insurance agencies, but most of our work involves helping employers who have been overcharged. We kind of like doing that sort of work best, no offense to the folks at the insurance companies and agencies.

Not All Consultants Are Created Equal

Sometimes, when I look at the websites of some of our competitors, even though they all look very slick and modern, I have a hard time figuring out exactly who are the people behind those company names. And since this field of Premium Recovery Consultants (or whatever you want to call it) is unregulated and unlicensed, it struck me that it might be really important to explain who are the people behind Advanced Insurance Management.

As I said earlier, my name is Ed Priz. I've worked in the insurance business since 1976. I've worked with all kinds of employers over the years, large and small, ranging from small machine shops to Fortune 500 type corporations. I hold the professional designations Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Premium Auditing (APA).

In addition to my consulting work, I often serve as an expert witness in court cases involving disputed Workers Compensation insurance premiums. I've served as an expert in state and federal courts across the U.S. including in two federal criminal cases. You can find out more about that here.  I've been retained as an expert by policyholders, by insurance companies, and by insurance agents and brokers.

I'm also the author of three books on Workers Compensation insurance (the most recent of which was co-authored by my son Scott.)

I'm a member of the National Society of Insurance Premium Auditors, The National Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, and the Forensic Expert Witness Association.

Oh, and I have also been approved as a Recommended Expert Service Provider by the A.M. Best Company.

Advanced Insurance Management LLC is also a member of the Better Business Bureau. Since our line of work is unregulated and unlicensed, I thought that it was important to have some kind of objective benchmark for ethical business operations. Our current rating from the BBB is A+.

Over the years, we figure we've produced around $25,000,000--twenty-five million dollars--in Workers Compensation insurance premium reductions and refunds for clients. In the cases we review, we find significant reductions or refunds in one-third to one-half of them. You can find the answers to more Frequently Asked Questions here.

If you're interested, you can also listen to an audio interview I did a few years ago, talking about the work we do here. It might be more information than you can stand, but at least there's a mute button on your computer.
